About

Susan D. Word, SPHR

Susan began her career as a commissioned officer in the United States Army where she served as a helicopter pilot and maintenance test pilot in the US and Germany. Susan has a Master’s degree in Human Resources Development Leadership from the University of Texas at Austin and holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and (SHRM) Senior Certified Professional certifications. Susan is currently an Adjunct Instructor for Austin Community College and Temple College teaching the HR Certification Prep Course. She served as a volunteer leader in local and state SHRM Chapters for over 10 years. Susan currently volunteers as an ombudsman for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a role that blends her knowledge of both HR and military.
